Welcome to Inclusive Yoga with Chanelle

We believe in the power of support, mentorship, and community

Meet Your Instructor: Chanelle

Hello, I’m Chanelle, a certified RYT 250 yoga teacher with a passion for creating inclusive spaces through the practice of yoga. My journey in yoga spans various styles, including Hatha, Yin, and Vinyasa.

Experience and Expertise

With several years of experience in disability support within the Department of Education, I’ve had the privilege of helping students with learning support, ASD, intellectual disabilities, and complex social and emotional behaviours. This background has uniquely shaped my approach to inclusive yoga, making it accessible and beneficial for individuals facing diverse challenges.

Beyond Yoga

In addition to being a qualified counsellor, I serve as a mentor and support worker here at Local Heart Community. My commitment extends beyond the mat, aiming to foster a supportive community where everyone can thrive.

Embracing Life’s Joys

Beyond my passion for yoga and disability support, I find joy in outdoor activities and being surrounded by nature. Whether spending quality time with family and friends or enjoying the company of my furry friends—a dog and a cat—I believe in the importance of connection and well-being.

The Power of Inclusive Yoga

Why Yoga and Meditation for People with Disabilities?

Yoga and meditation offer a multitude of benefits specifically tailored for individuals with disabilities. Here’s why:

  1. Mind-Body Connection The practice of yoga emphasizes the connection between the mind and body. For individuals with disabilities, this integration can enhance self-awareness and foster a sense of control over one’s body and emotions.
  2. Stress Reduction Yoga and meditation are powerful tools for managing stress. The calming nature of these practices can help alleviate the daily pressures faced by individuals with disabilities, promoting a sense of inner peace and tranquillity.
  3. Improved Flexibility and Mobility Gentle stretches and poses in our sessions are designed to enhance flexibility and mobility. This is especially beneficial for individuals with physical challenges, promoting a greater range of motion and overall well-being.
  4. Social Connection Our inclusive yoga sessions provide a supportive space for social interaction. Building connections with fellow participants fosters a sense of community, reducing feelings of isolation and promoting a shared journey of growth and acceptance.
  5. Mindfulness and Focus Meditation practices incorporated into our sessions enhance mindfulness and focus. These skills are invaluable for individuals with disabilities, supporting cognitive function and emotional well-being.
Supporting Carer’s Well-Being

A Time for You

In addition to our inclusive yoga sessions, we’re thrilled to offer classes specifically for carers—whether you’re a paid carer, support worker, or a family member caring for a loved one with a disability. This is your opportunity to take time out for yourself, to relax, recharge, and connect with others who understand the unique challenges and joys of caring.

Relax and Recharge

Our carer’s classes provide a dedicated space for you to unwind, both physically and mentally. Through gentle yoga and mindfulness practices, you can release tension, promote relaxation, and nurture your well-being.

Connect with Fellow Carers

Caring for others can be both rewarding and demanding. Our carer’s classes offer a supportive environment where you can connect with other carers, share experiences, and build a network of understanding and support.
